Can you give me a summary of what 'cognitive reasoning' means?

I am reading a book about OCD and it talks a lot about 'cognitive reasoning', 'cognitive thinking' and 'cognitive therapy'. But I don't understand what it means. Can someone give me an explanation in laymen's terms? Thanks!
