Will Myspace or Facebook delete your account if you add a lot of friends?

I am planning on adding a lot of friends in a specific category to sponsor me for a non profit organization. I am not planning on using a bot to add friends in m. I am however planning on adding thousands of friends. Is this okay to request sponsorship or is this considered spamming? The fear I have is that once I add a lot of friends I will be abruptly deleted. Also I don't think anyone will complain about me because of the nature of my charity non profit but I think out of the thousands there will be some and I am wondering if this will be detrimental to my account?
