Does Christianity fail the clinically depressed?
I think that Christianity(most religions in general) allows some people to not think rationally. Without rationality a mentally ill persons perspectives cannot be helped. You can't really expect religious leaders and officials to understand psychology fully when they aren't educated to help the sick. I was raised as a christian and now suffer with depression. I am no longer religious because i dislike what organized religion does to people and frankly I don't know that a higher power exists. God and the church has never really aided my depression at all.
