If you had a daemon what would it be and why?

I'm a fan of Philip Pullman's books. Following discussions with my friends it was decided that my daemon would be a llama because they're nice & smiley most of the time then spit when least expected! What characteristics would your daemon need to have and what animal best expresses these?
