Question about steak?

I put a 1 pound ribeye steak in my fridge with marinade about a week and 3 days ago and forgot about it. The marinade included 1 onion, 1/4 olive oil, 4 cloves garlic, 1 tsp of salt, thyme, cayenne pepper, black pepper. The steak is very very soft right now and is brown from the marinade. there is no discoloration and it smells good but thats mainly because the marinade smells good. Now I am wondering do you think it would be a bad idea to eat it at this point? Would the marinade have adequately preserved the steak?
